Due to the high frequency of ankle and knee injuries in athletics, SportsMedicine of Atlanta has designed a clinic to deal with just these injuries. SportsMedicine of Atlanta strives to prevent and/or lessen the severity of knee injuries to amateur, recreational, and professional athletes.  The clinic provides pre-season musculoskeletal screenings to detect inherent weaknesses and to give specific advice on off-season and in-season conditioning techniques. Likewise, protective equipment is made available, including preventive knee braces, taping techniques, air cast, and a multitude of ankle supports and ankle-foot orthoses.

When knee injuries occur, our clinic makes available immediate care, as our philosophy emphasizes early intervention.  Frequently, athletes are asked to wait 2-3 days before they can obtain an appointment with their local physician.  However, due to the complex anatomy involved with knee injuries, scientific literature supports that greater results are obtained if treatment is initiated immediately.  Therefore, SportsMedicine of Atlanta makes immediate access available for all knee and ankle injuries.  Once a knee injury has been treated and rehabilitated, prior to allowing an athlete to return to his/her athletic endeavor, the athlete is prescribed an advanced intervention program that should prohibit reoccurrence of injury.

Finally, all clients are provided with thorough education regarding anatomy, physiology, and function, so that they can completely understand the importance of prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of knee and ankle injuries.  SportsMedicine of Atlanta educational programs utilize life-like anatomical models and a multitude of audiovisual aides to complement the educational experience.
